With the approval of Shihan Stuart Corrigal, the BC Muslim School dojo was open on March 3, 2003. Since then Kevin has been in keeping with training with Shihan Stuart while administering this dojo. Over this past number of years, this dojo has produced some outstanding teenage fighters who had brought in medals after medals in various tournaments. We currently are accepting students from 10 years old and over.
Kevin began his training in Go-Ju Ryu style of karate at the age of 19 in his birth place Hong Kong when it was a British Crown Colony. He was promoted to 1st Kyu after 3 years of training before leaving home to further his studies in the U.K.
In 1985, Kevin resumed training in Kyokushin Karate in Richmond Dojo under the guidance of Shihan Stuart Corrigal, and was promoted to Shodan after 6 years of training. He has since participated and been successfully placed in several IKOKC sanctioned tournaments. In 1997, he was promoted to the rank of Nidan. Other than training at his home dojo with Shihan Corrigal, Kevin has also travelled to various Kyokushin seminars, training camps as well as tournaments outside Canada both as participant and as official. Kevin is certified as IKO international tournament judge as well as IKOKC associate referee. He currently holds the rank of Sandan, which was granted to him in 2006. Kevin is also one of the instructors at the Richmond dojo assisting Shihan Stuart Corrigal.
